Summary:

A patient is accidentally cured of HIV when they receive a bone marrow transplant from someone with a mutated CCR5 receptor gene.

But, apparently, more animal research is necessary, including studies on mice and non-human primates – neither of which actually exhibit AIDS symptoms in response to HIV infection.

Right.
